History of Ambalangoda Division

Many historical facts about the Ambalangoda area are found only around the 18th and 19th centuries. The Portuguese are also BALANGALE by the Portuguese, the Ambalangotten (AMBALANGOTTEN) and the English by Ambalangoda (Ambalangodde) in Ambalangoda, Ambalangoda and Ambalangoda by the Dutch.

The earliest documentary evidence of the oldest in Ambalangoda is from the "Tripiliginal Island Magazine Book" and "Sri Lanka's Kadim Book". These are important testimonies of the Kandyan era to describe the Sinhala territories. According to Dr. HAP Abeywardena, "A Walangama Rata", which is named after the three Sinhalese tailor book, can be in present day in Ambalangoda. In addition, it is mentioned about forty-two countries belonging to Ruhuna in the Sri Lankan box office. It is mentioned in the "Ambalaya" area. Embala was used to refer to the ancient "Ambalama".

There are some ideas about Ambalangoda's name. One of the popular ideas is that it is known that the An-Balan-God> is in Ambalangoda. A story in that story is that when a group of mechanics who had traveled in the sea had been stranded in the sea, they suddenly saw the land on the ground and they shouted 'Ah-baling' - they landed in the same area and later it was named as Ambalangoda.

Another noteworthy idea about the Ambalangoda Grammar is that it has become an Anana-Balana-land. The people in the area were responsible for cinnamon cultivation around the Ambalangoda area during the Portuguese rule. It is said that the area that he looked after was named as 'Balangoda' for the convenience of the Ambalangoda area.

Both views on the Ambalangoda Gama Nami are difficult to accept. The difficult reason to accept the first is that they are based on a weak foundation. Those who were stranded in the sea would have seen plenty of land.

Recognition of the second idea is also not logical. Since the arrival of the Portuguese, casino books have been used in this area from Ambalangoda in this area. The most commonly accepted idea is that the Ambalangoda village name was created by the Ambalum in that area. Especially in cultural books, restrooms, hectares, and restaurants are called Ambalam. In addition, Ambalam has also been named as Salta, Ambalam, Ayurveda, Embala in the Sinhala texts. Accordingly, we can see that the idea of going to the Ambalangoda place in Kadim books is a place where there is a huge variety of ambalam.

In addition to this, there are many historical facts about the Ambalangoda town. There is also a collection of lyrical poetry such as Gira, Parevi, Kowlo, and the novel written by Nilwihini.

The king of Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte is said to have spent most of his time in Welikada,
